조현정
조현정(Cho Hyeon Jung, 1987-)은 계원예술대학교를 졸업했다. 작가는 일상 속에서 흔히 지나칠 수 있는 장면들을 포착하고, 이를 섬세하게 관찰하여 그려낸다. 작업에 주로 등장하는 ‘고양이’의 시선은 자연을 대하는 작가의 태도를 드러내는 동시에, 화면의 밀도와 긴장감을 유지하는 장치로 기능한다. 호리아트스페이스 기획 3인전 《UNTITLED: 엇갈리는 지점들》(호리아트스페이스, 서울, 2025), 《Dragonlore》(Haven Gallery, New York, U.S., 2024), 2024년 신진작가 기획전 《Wavy Wave》(호리아트스페이스 & 아이프라운지, 서울, 2024)를 비롯해 《식물體》(갤러리 몬도베르, 서울, 2024), 《아시아프》(ASYAAF, 서울, 2023), 《세상에 없던 그림》(갤러리 몬도베르, 서울, 2022), 《전북 나우아트페스티벌》(전북예술회관, 전주, 2018), 《상상연대》(갤러리고도, 서울, 2017) 등 다수의 기획전 및 그룹전에 참여했다.
Cho Hyeon Jung (b. 1987) graduated from Kaywon University of Art and Design. Cho captures scenes that are often overlooked in everyday life and renders them through careful, delicate observation. The recurring presence of cats in her work serves as a lens through which she reflects on her attitude toward nature, while also functioning as a compositional device that sustains density and tension within the pictorial space. Cho has participated in numerous curated and group exhibitions, including UNTITLED: Points of Intersection, a three-person exhibition featuring Lee Hee Eun, Jung Ji A, and Cho Hyeon Jung, organized by HORI ART SPACE (HORI ART SPACE, Seoul, 2025), Dragonlore (Haven Gallery, New York, U.S., 2024), Wavy Wave, an emerging artists exhibition organized by HORI ART SPACE & AiF Lounge (Seoul, 2024), Plant體 (Gallery Mondover, Seoul, 2024), ASYAAF (Seoul, 2023), A Painting That Never Existed (Gallery Mondover, Seoul, 2022), Jeonbuk Now Art Festival (Jeonbuk Arts Center, Jeonju, 2018), and Imaginary Solidarity (Gallery GODO, Seoul, 2017).
