호리아트스페이스는 신년 첫 기획전으로 «Untitled : 엇갈리는 지점들» 전시를 개최합니다. 2024년 2월, 신진작가 발굴 프로그램의 일환으로 젊은 작가 11명이 참여한 «Wavy Wave» 전시를 선보인 바 있습니다. 이번 전시는 각기 다른 예술 세계와 독창적인 시각을 제시했던 작가들 중 이희은 · 정지아 · 조현정 3명의 작가를 선정하여 좀 더 심층적으로 이들의 작품세계를 살펴보고자 합니다.
‘엇갈리는 지점들’은 단순히 지리적 위치나 물리적 공간을 의미하는 것이 아닙니다. 그것은 작가들이 서로 다른 방법으로 사유하고, 해석하며, 표현하는 그 지점들의 충돌과 융합을 의미합니다. 세 작가는 각자의 독특한 시각과 기법으로 사회적, 개인적, 혹은 철학적 문제를 탐구하면서도, 서로 다른 관점과 방식을 통해 하나의 전시로 이어집니다. 각기 다른 시작점을 가졌지만, 작품이 관람자에게 전달하는 메시지와 감동은 그 지점들이 교차하며 만들어지는 독특한 의미의 순간들입니다.
‘Untitled(무제)’ 역시 단어 그 자체로 무한한 가능성과 열린 해석의 여지를 내포하고 있습니다. 제목의 빈 공간은 작가들만의 고유한 표현을 가능하게 하며, 그 안에 담긴 '엇갈림'은 예술이 끊임없이 변화하고 확장되는 방식을 반영합니다. 3인의 작가들이 제시하는 새로운 시각과 생각의 교차점에서, 우리는 예술이 어떻게 끊임없이 다르게, 그러나 동시에 연결되며 진화하는지 확인할 수 있을 것입니다. 이번 전시가 여러분에게 새로운 질문을 던지고, 예술에 대한 더욱 깊은 이해를 이끌어내는 계기가 되기를 바랍니다.
As representatives of Hori Artspace, we are delighted to start the New Year with our thematic exhibition, Untitled: Points of Intersection. Earlier in February 2024, we unveiled Wavy Wave, an exhibition spotlighting 11 emerging artists as part of our program to discover new talent. For this latest exhibition, we have chosen three exceptional artists — Lee Huieun, Chung Ziah, and Cho Hyeonjung — from the previous showcase, each known for their unique artistic perspectives. This exhibition aims to delve deeply into their distinct creative realms.
“Points of Intersection” does not merely refer to specific places or physical spaces. Instead, it represents the moments of collision and convergence that inspire the artists to reflect, interpret, and express their ideas in individual ways. The three artists address social, personal, and philosophical themes through their distinctive lens and techniques. While their approaches and viewpoints differ, they ultimately converge to create a cohesive exhibition. Despite beginning from varied origins, their works evoke messages and heart-touching emotions that intersect, offering viewers incomparably meaningful moments of connection.
The term "Untitled" suggests limitless possibilities and invites open interpretation. Its blank space provides room for each artist’s distinct expression, while the idea of “intersection” highlights the ever-evolving and expansive nature of art.
The crossroads of fresh perspectives and ideas from these three artists will invite the viewers to observe how art evolves in diverse yet interwoven directions. We hope this exhibition inspires viewers to explore new questions, offering an opportunity for deeper engagement with and understanding of art.
