독일에서 가장 주목받는 젊은 현대미술가 중 한 명인 데이비드 레만 (David Lehmann, b.1987)의 개인전이 개최됩니다. 초이앤초이 갤러리, 호리아트스페이스와 아이프미술경영이 공동으로 주최하는 이번 데이비드 레만 전시는 지난 2021년에 이어 두 번째 초대전입니 다. 기간은 7월 13일부터 8월 24일까지이며, 회화작품 32점과 드 로잉 10점 등 42점을 선보입니다.
데이비드 레만은 "동년배 작가들이 지켜야 할 기준을 세운 새로운 예 술가"라는 평가받을 정도로 독창적이고 창의적인 작품세계를 인정받 고 있습니다. 특히 내면의 주관적인 감정과 대상의 본질을 꿰뚫는 레 만의 조형 언어는 보는 이의 감각을 순식간에 사로잡는 매력을 지녔 습니다. 순간의 감정을 토해내는 듯한 강렬한 색감과 유기적이고 역 동적인 붓 터치는 비교 대상을 찾기 힘들 정도입니다.
이번 전시는 특별히 전시 장소의 특징과 작품의 성격을 고려해 두 개 의 타이틀로 진행합니다. 우선 삼청동 초이앤초이 갤러리는 스 believe in love again(사랑을 또다시 믿는다)》, 청담동호리아트스 페이스와 아이프라운지는 《Love is hotter than death(사랑은 죽 음보다 뜨겁다)》 입니다. 마치 "사랑은 죽음보다 뜨겁기에 또다시 믿 는다!"라는 말을 건네는 듯합니다. 그 '사랑의 특별한 단상'을 전하려 한국을 찾는 데이비드 레만 작가와의 만남 자리에 초대합니다.
A solo exhibition by David Lehmann (b. 1987), one of the most prominent young contemporary artists in Germany, will be held this summer. Co-organized by CHOI&CHOI Gallery, HORI ART SPACE, and IF Art Management, this marks Lehmann’s second invited exhibition in Korea since his 2021 debut. The exhibition runs from July 13 to August 24 and features a total of 42 works, including 32 paintings and 10 drawings.
David Lehmann has been recognized for his originality and creativity, to the extent that he is described as “a new artist setting the standard for his generation.” His unique visual language, which penetrates the essence of his subjects through deeply subjective emotions, has a striking power to captivate the viewer’s senses. The intense colors and organic, dynamic brushstrokes—evocative of an emotional outpouring—are truly unparalleled.
This exhibition takes on a dual structure, with two separate titles tailored to the characteristics of each venue and the nature of the works on display. At CHOI&CHOI Gallery in Samcheong-dong, the exhibition is titled Believe in Love Again, while at HORI ART SPACE and IF Lounge in Cheongdam-dong, it is titled Love is Hotter than Death. Together, the two titles seem to whisper: “Because love is hotter than death, I choose to believe again.” We invite you to meet David Lehmann in person and experience this poignant reflection on love, brought to life through his powerful and deeply emotional art.
