‘주사기 작가’로 잘 알려진 윤종석 작가의 신작 개인전 ‘창백한 푸른 점’이 호리아트스페이스 주최, 아이프미술경영연구소 기획으로 열립니다. 2년 전 ‘표면의 깊이’라는 제목으로 가졌던 개인전 이후 2년 만에 다시 호리아트스페이스에서 신작을 발표하는 것입니다.
이번 전시의 제목인 ‘창백한 푸른 점’은 천문학자 칼 세이건의 저서 『창백한 푸른 점』의 모티브이기도 합니다. 모든 인류가 작은 점 지구에서 일생을 살아가듯, 윤종석 작가의 수많은 점에도 우리 인생의 다양한 에피소드가 녹아 있을 것입니다.
이번 전시에는 작가 어머니의 일생을 한 폭에 담은 대작 < 여자의 일생(0907-어머니) >(255.7×318.6cm)이 한쪽 벽면 전체를 꽉 채우기도 하고, 전시장 벽면 전체를 청색 빛이 스민 검은색으로 칠해, 마치 어두운 밤하늘의 우주 속에 작품이 빛나는 듯 연출했습니다. 윤종석 작가의 특별한 이야기에 여러분을 초대합니다.
Widely known as “the syringe artist,” Yoon Jong-Seok presents his latest solo exhibition Pale Blue Dot, hosted by HORI ART SPACE and organized by AIF Art Management Institute. This marks his return to the gallery with new work, two years after his previous solo exhibition The Depth of the Surface.
The title Pale Blue Dot is inspired by the book of the same name by astronomer Carl Sagan. Just as all of humanity lives out their lives on the tiny dot that is Earth, each of Yoon’s countless dots holds fragments of our own life stories and experiences.
A highlight of the exhibition is the large-scale painting A Woman’s Life (0907 – Mother) (255.7×318.6 cm), which fills an entire wall of the gallery. The space itself has been transformed, with all walls painted in deep black infused with a blue hue—evoking the vastness of the night sky and allowing Yoon’s works to shine as if suspended in the cosmos.
