호리아트스페이스에서 ‘사과작가’로 이름난 윤병락 개인전을 개최합니다. 전시제목은 《윤병락 : 아카이브》입니다. 제목에서 짐작되듯 윤병락 작가의 지난 작품세계 전반을 스케치한 ‘아카이브전’ 성격입니다. 누가 뭐라고 해도 이미 ‘사과그림=윤병락’이란 수식어는 대명사로 통합니다. 김창열 화백의 ‘물방울’처럼, 아무리 단순한 소재라도 일반상식을 초월한 작가적 집념과 만나면 숭고미의 표상으로 탈바꿈하게 됩니다. 그런 면에서 ‘윤병락의 사과’도 그 여정인지 모릅니다. 이번 전시에 정리된 ‘윤병락 작품연보 1993~2022’를 통해 윤 작가의 사과그림이 어떤 과정에서 탄생했는지 한 눈에 이해할 수 있을 것입니다.
윤병락 작가의 일과는 정말 단순합니다. 하루 평균 10시간 넘게 작업실에서 보냅니다. 잠자는 시간을 제외하곤 거의 모든 일과를 작업에 할애합니다. 그토록 굳은 신념과 열정을 사과그림에 쏟게 했던 원동력이 무엇이었는지 이번 《윤병락 : 아카이브》전을 통해 만나보시길 권합니다. 미래진행형인 ‘윤병락의 행복한 사과 그 이상의 이야기’전에 여러분을 초대합니다.
HORI Artspace is having a solo exhibition of the widely renowned “apple painter”, under the title of . As can be guessed from the title, it is in the form of an “archive”, laying out the world of an artist’s works.
No matter what, the “Apple painting = Yoon Byung Rock” formula is already a pronoun. Just as the late Kim Kim Tschang Yeul’s (1929-2021) “water droplets”, even the simplest subject matter is transformed into a representation of sublime beauty when encountered by the inconceivable tenacity of an artist. In that sense, "Yoon Byung Rock’s Apples” may be on such journey. By following his artworks chronologically from the year 1993 to 2022, you will be able to realize how the apple paintings came to be born.
Yoon’s daily routine is utterly simple; He spends no less than 10 hours a day working in his studio – which means that except for the sleeping hours, the artist’s most of the day is spent in front of a canvas. How does an artist have such driving force to pour in passion and firm will into painting apples, the answer will be found at exhibition.
